I like figuring out what's actually going on.

I've worked in tech for the past ten years.

I started as a software engineer and later moved into Product Management. The job titles changed, but a lot of what interested me didn't: complicated problems, interconnected systems, unclear situations, and the gap between what something looks like from the outside and what is actually producing the outcome.

Product Management gave me a place to do more of that work.

A lot of my job has involved walking into situations where different people each hold one piece of the picture, working out how those pieces fit together, and figuring out what we should change, or sometimes what we shouldn't.

Over time, I realised that this way of thinking had escaped work entirely. I saw the same patterns in organisations, decisions, incentives, everyday problems, and my own attempts to build things.

So I started writing them down.

That became The Flamingo Lens.
